What is Ontology?
Ontology is an enterprise-grade blockchain project that provides secure and unique chains, designed to protect data and systems. The platform is considered a “private room” in a public blockchain, with the aim of bringing distributed ledgers to large enterprises in a usable form.
Essentially, ONT was created to help businesses of all sizes set up blockchain technology in their companies without having to completely change all of their existing systems.
Who invented Ontology?
Ontology was created in 2017 by a Chinese company called OnChain, founded by Erik Zhang and Da HongFei. OnChain has made great achievements in the crypto industry, as they are also the founders of the NEO blockchain, currently a multi-billion dollar project.
One of the coolest things about Ontology is that they didn’t hold an ICO. Instead, the project airdropped their money to the community, including NEO holders and subscribers to the newsletter.
What is ONT?
Ontology Coin (ONT) is the energy-powered coin for Ontology, a high-performance blockchain focused on solving problems related to identity security and data integrity. ONT was originally a NEP-5 token (NEP-5 is a protocol of NEO) on the NEO blockchain. However, on June 30 in 2018, the Ontology mainnet was launched and the NEP-5 ONT was converted to the ONT mainnet.
